How we connect
We never ask for your marketplace password, and we could not store one if you offered it.
- eBay and Shopify connect over OAuth — you approve on their site, we receive a token.
- That token is scoped to the permissions the integration needs and can be revoked from your marketplace account at any moment, without us.
- Revoking there stops us immediately; nothing in Profitio can override it.
Everything automated is written down
No engine changes a listing silently. Every automated action leaves a row with the before and after values.
- Title rewrites, item specifics, price moves, markdown sales and Best Offer replies each keep their own history.
- Most changes can be reverted from the same screen that shows them.
- Who did what, and when, is recorded for manual actions too — including which person in your team pressed the button.
Off by default, on when you say so
Automation that answers buyers or moves prices starts switched off. Until you enable it, the engines record the decision they would have made and send nothing.
- Automatic Best Offer replies are off until you turn them on, per account.
- Pricing engines run behind validators: a minimum margin, a stock guard, a rights-owner lock and a hard price floor.
- Each engine has its own switch. Turning one off never silently disables something else.
Who can see what
Permissions are set per action, not per person-is-an-admin.
- Roles go down to the individual button: the warehouse does not see revenue, the shop floor does not change cost.
- Every company’s data is separated at the query level — this sits in the foundation, not in a filter someone can forget.
Leaving
Your catalogue, costs and history are yours. Getting them out does not require asking us.
- Full data export from Settings, any time, without contacting support.
- Delete the account and the data goes with it, including anything we hold from the connected marketplaces.
What we never do
Some limits are not settings — they are things the software does not do at all.
- We do not sell, share or train public models on your catalogue, costs or customer data.
- We do not price a listing below the floor you set, and no engine goes below $10 regardless.
- We do not accept a buyer’s offer, end a listing or message a customer unless you switched that on.
Questions we actually get
Can Profitio change my listings without me noticing?
Only through an engine you have switched on, and never silently — every change is written to that engine’s history with the old and new values, and most can be undone from the same screen.
What happens if your AI gets something wrong?
The quality gates refuse the change rather than apply it: a rewrite that shortens a title, drops a part number or fails to improve the score is rejected before it reaches eBay. What does get through is logged and revertible.
Do you hold my eBay password?
No. Connection is over OAuth — you authorise on eBay, we receive a revocable token. Revoke it in your eBay account and our access ends immediately.
Are you certified — SOC 2, ISO 27001?
Not today, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. We are an eBay-registered developer and implement their required account-deletion notification endpoint. If a formal certification is a requirement for you, tell us — it affects what we prioritise.
